This standard round brilliant has just enough orange in its slight reddish pink color to make a red salmon color name, which is new to me. The stone is bright and eye clean. It weighs 2.31 carats.
This slightly reddish pink seemed to have just the right touch of orange to get my creative juices going and give it a color name (red salmon) that I have not used before. But as you have probably read before, the shifting that goes on in the pink to peach, red to orange etc. color range in tourmaline is unsettling. So if the “red salmon” swims upstream and spans or sinks to the bottom and becomes just a slightly redder rich pink with a bit orange is up in the air. Ah, the naming of color in the dynamic world of tourmaline color.
This standard round brilliant has a very nice medium tone that appears to be eye clean. It has fine crystal and I think that the yellowish light gives it just enough of a touch of orange, for the red salmon trial in color. It is big enough to stand on its own at 2.31 carats.
