This is a very nice medium toned brown that will show you some maroon flashes. It is eye clean and has fine crystal. It is dichroic, but the ends of the emerald cut are not to dark. It weighs 4.54 carats.
If you look closely at many tourmaline browns, what do you see. An orange that is just not saturated (purity of color) enough to present its orange face cleanly and brightly to the world. But the posted gemstone, which is brown, is a fascinatingly different. Holding it steady and looking at it face up, I see a really nice medium toned brown, that is not golden, but when I begin to move it, I see flashes of maroon. So I investigate what the stone is mixing up and I find that it is secretly a purplish red that is not saturated enough to be its color in ordinary sunlight. This makes it practically unique (I have a few other tourmalines that are similar.) Being different and having an eye clean, fine crystal personality, makes you a great ….BROWN and fun. Its ends are really not that dark either. The stones weighs 4.54 carats.
