This standard round brilliant is one of those great, eye clean, medium toned droplets of color from Namibia, that deserves to be called an indicolite. It weighs .55 carats.
I don’t mind taking a moment to talk about Namibian blue tourmaline. Namibia is one of the small, select, group of locations in the world that produces brilliant pure blue tourmaline that deserves to be call Indicolite. The material can have a dark tone level and is routinely heated to lighten it. The heating can even be done in the rough stage. I have had problems with the rough’s stability, namely moving flaws that are hard to grind out, that may be a result of the heating. Though, in the end, most of the blues I have from Namibia are eye clean and with good crystal. Finally I think that on a purely color/hue basis top quality Indicolite from Namibia is a better saturated blue than most cuprian tourmaline gemstones.
This smaller standard round brilliant is a beauty. It has nothing to talk about, but its great color, medium tone level and fine purity as it is inducted into the droplets of color. It weighs .55 carats.
