This standard round brilliant has a flatter crown. Its medium toned purple pink has a very nice flash even thought it is slightly included. It weighs 7.29 carats.
Well looking at this gemstone closely for flaws/inclusions has brought back a memory. It was soon after I started cutting gemstones after a long hiatus and I was new to the inter net. I dealt with most American dealers that frankly did not have much to offer, but I was only looking for smaller or less expensive material. I was already trying to establish African and Afghanistan connections, but that takes time and resources. The rough for this good sized purple pink was from a few dealing I had with a group out of Madagascar. I think it was the only piece that turned out to be work faceting.
The posted gemstone has a flatter crown to try and maximize my yield from a rather thin cross section clipped off a crystal. It also worked to lighted the gemstone to a nice medium tone level. Best of all this gemstone, even with its purplish shades, does not have a transparency problem. It is a great flasher, but the color is not really bright in natural light. I certainly likes my yellowish light better. It weighs 7.29 carats and is slightly included.
