This medium toned greenish emerald cut, has limited flash because it is cut with its table perpendicular to the c axis. It appears to be eye clean and with fine crystal. It weighs 2.75 carats.
I knew there was something “funny” with this emerald cut as soon as I focused on it. It has golden green on the storage box, but color was not that big a deal with this mostly green emerald cut. I checked its pavilion and there is absolutely not variation in the color in any of the sides of the gemstone. And they were a more saturate green color than the stones shows face up. So now the mystery has been exposed. This green emerald cut, that looks normal, was cut with its table perpendicular to the c axis. A most unusual orientation in this color and tone level of tourmaline. But that is not all. This emerald cut suffers from limited transparency, a phenomenon that has been noticed too often in some nice blues and greens.
So this unusual, mostly green emerald cut has a medium tone level, but a degree of flash that I would associate with a much darker stone. It is eye clean and has good crystal, which is seen best from the pavilion. So this attractive emerald cut, which would look best if walked alone, doesn’t reach its color and tone level potential, but its different and that I like. It weighs 2.75 carats.
