I can find nothing wrong with this excellent shield cut pink that is a little on the orange side. It has a two step crown and weighs 2.83 carats.
This pink with maybe a bit of orange has everything going for it. The shield cut makes a naturally flashy gemstone and medium tone and great crystal just amplify the effect. I also appears to be eye clean. This modern looking gemstone has a two step crown and weighs 2.83 carats.
Shield cuts are a really great, more modern cut. One important thing that is useful to know, is that they all need custom settings. In fact almost all my gemstones, outside of rounds, need custom settings. In the beginning, when I cut smaller stones, I was cutting calibrated sizes for commercial setting. But as I began to invest in bigger more expensive rough I gave up on wasting material to cut calibrated stones. This change was caused by both not wanting beauty to be compromised by commercial considerations and the feeling that my gemstones deserve quality custom settings.
