This beautiful standard round brilliant is the answer to my search for a truly great orange in tourmaline. It has it all including stability of color under reasonable lights. It weighs .77 carats.
When I started cutting again after a long hiatus, I was particularly interested in purples and oranges. I have found golden oranges in abundance out of Africa and some of it has driven me up the wall because it is unstable. I have run into reddish oranges although they are not as common as I might have expected. I have run into something that I really did not expect to see and that is color changers from orange to red. Along with all this are stones that desaturate and turn brownish (called dravites). Going into pastels there are many combinations of orange and pink or yellow(peach). So where am I going.
I want an orange juice orange. I want it to be clean and bright with a medium rich tone value that has great saturation. And I want it now. This modest gemstone is the answer to that demand. It has it all and I drink to it even with its modest weight of .77 carats. The droplets sent a special envoy to escort this beauty home.
