I like this oval because it has the purest brown in the collection. It appears to be eye clean and moderately dichroic. It is bright and flashy for a medium toned oval. It weighs 3.87 carats.
I like this oval’s color. It is the closest to a pure brown in the collection. I does approach brown from the yellow side, but it has no pretenses of having a fancy name. It has a nice even color, despite being dichroic, because its table is cut perpendicular to the principle axis (c). The long ratio oval appears to be eye clean and with fine crystal. It weighs 3.87 carats.
This is kind of a foot note. When I looked at the storage box, on which I write down the most important important information about the gemstone, I see it is cuprian. I sure I did not buy it as cuprian and that I found out using my spectrometer. Still I have never seen any mention of brown cuprian and I have tried to stay up on color in cuprian tourmaline. I would have said that this piece came from East Africa if I had to put down an origin, but it must have come from Mozambique and sometime before copper was discover there. Interesting.
