This is a beautiful gemstone. It can slide from golden brown to mahogany, is always brown. It is eye clean and has fine crystal. It has a medium dark tone, but won't sit still in a decent light. It weighs 5.34 carats.
Brown was suppose to be brown and then I got into mahogany. Now I am seeing storage boxes with golden brown on the back and I see the most wonder rich sultry mahogany under my yellowish florescent light. I check one of the ovals, I posted about during the day, to see if it would be affected by the yellow in my artificial light. It had not noticed the difference. So I would say that we are dealing with a different twist, like color in tourmaline always give to those that get too general with it. Similar colors under one illumination do not necessary stay similar under another illumination. The difference in color is caused by metamerism. It is a feature of our type of seeing and can drive lovers of tourmaline to question their eyes.
The posted stone appears to be eye clean and with fine crystal. Its medium dark body is so smooth that the abundant, flash driven color seem to melt into the corners. It weighs 5.34 fine, beautiful carats.
