This yellow, standard round brilliant, has a great sunny disposition. The inclusions are evenly distributed and it has good crystal. It weighs 7.51 carats.
Sometimes I like to purchase a larger piece of nicely colored tourmaline that has at best a semifacet grade clarity. With enough size and a lack of concern about yield, I have had some pretty clean hits. When I looked at this water worn nodule that became this gemstone, it became obvious that the straight forward way of trying to cut the biggest gemstone possible (with the correct angles) was the correct path. Yellow is not a color in tourmaline that is prone to dark tones and the clutter in the stone was pretty well disseminated evenly threw out the rough.
I am really glade that I made that decisions. The large standard round brilliant that was born is just so sunny that the clutter can not shut it down. It may have a touch of gold, but I think it’s saturation is very high for a yellow in tourmaline. Not a spot of green or brown here. The inclusions do temper the flash some, but it can still signal from across the room.
The gemstone weighs 7.5 carats. It has good crystal between the clutter and its yellow tone level benefits greatly from its size. It is one of my better yellows, included or not.
