This standard round brilliant is on the orange side of pink. This medium rich tone level gem, shows a nice amount of flash, in its eye clean body, with fine crystal. It weighs 4.55 carats.
This gemstone is part of my first tray in the collection. My son organized it after the last show the Carnegie Museum ever gave with gems and minerals. He brought together many red/pink rounds from over the years. Many of them are well saturated because quality pinks are still generally available and the trade sees little need to handle grayed pinks. All the rounds up to this point in the tray have had a purplish overtone if they aren’t pure pink/red (probably none of them are really pure). Well this one is different and its home is the world of orangish red. This is not the world of Pad (an abbreviation for a type of sapphire that has a mixture of pink and red, that is very expensive and usually comes from Ceylon.), but it quite beautiful to me and not as appreciated as it should be. This gemstone, that definitely has an orange shade to its rich pink, has a medium rich tone level with fine, eye clean crystal. It weighs 4.55 carats of the extended world of oranges, all brought to you by the wonderful world of tourmaline.
