This is a great orange that will stand up to the best droplets. It is clean and bright and weighs 1.58 carats.
One of the colors in tourmaline I wanted to get when I started cutting gems again after a long hiatus was orange. Since Brazil and other classic locations produced very little if any orange (without help from man) some authorities intimated that nature did not produce a good orange in tourmaline. I think that Africa has changed the world of orange in tourmaline. Oranges that are golden orange and look like amber are common in smaller sizes. A good orange juice orange is still rare, but available from a number of sources.
This droplet of color is the orange of my dreams. It doesn’t pink or brown out on me and I will drink to that. It is a great tone level and highly transparent. In other words this standard round brilliant, stands right up there with the best droplets. Though I must admit that any oranges of any quality do not merit the same respect as top level blues, greens and reds. Rarity does not necessarily bring high value. This gemstone weighs 1.58 carats.
