This 1 carat blue green emerald cut is bright and flashy and has open ends. Not completely clean, but it is a fine little gem.
Going down the tray this smaller gemstone does not grab you eye because of its size. but focus and you see a very nice gemstone. I don’t think that it is perfectly clean like most tourmalines, but nothing really distracts the eye. It has open and very transparent ends that have a bit more yellow in them than the bluer a/b sides. This is very tourmaline and is similar to “sea foam” from Afghanistan. Sea foam from Afghanistan with a bright “neon” look is one of the more expensive varieties of tourmaline out there, so this stone is in good company.
One feature of this gemstone that I really like is that it has a bright flashy life in an emerald cut. Experts can find emerald cuts to be so simple that they fall asleep cutting them. They are also one of the most abused cuts out there, since it is a “color” cut and proper angles may/probably won’t be adhered to. Weight retention is paramount and while a tourmaline cut with the proper angles will be a deep stone, it is manageable in commercial settings. You can not always say that about native cuts. The posted gemstone weighs 1.06 carats.
