This emerald cut is the best you can cut from the world of small highly dichroic green tourmaline crystal that nature has produced. It has the typical well saturated yellow green in a medium tone level, which is good for this type of material. Cleanliness is not a problem, which is why green is rated as a usually clean gemstone. The rating is fine, but I don’t discount a whole world of excellent greens that are only slightly included. Many times they’re the most exciting and varied in the world of green tourmaline. Steep ends are cut in the emerald cuts to minimize the influence of the optically closed ends that are usually called closed. This affects the amount of material removed in the corners and the flash pattern, that I don’t particularly care for, so with marginal cases (semi closed ends), I may not use the steep ends. Also it is impossible to set an emerald cut with steep ends in a standard commercial setting.
To sum up for the posted stone. This pretty well saturated green emerald cut with steep ends appears to be eye clean and with fine crystal. It weighs 1.20 carats and has a nice medium tone level.
